The MRCLC is seeking a solicitor to work 15.2 hours per week to 30 June 2021 under the Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS) program.
In summary, the applicant will be expected to provide tailored tenancy information, advice, guidance, referrals, QCAT submissions, occasional QCAT representation and professional support for vulnerable tenants and rooming accommodation residents throughout Queensland. You will help clients to build capacity to resolve tenancy issues and prevent or reduce the risk of homelessness.
You will be providing direct and personalised assistance to facilitate self-advocacy by enhancing individual coping skills and providing referrals and links to appropriate services. You will also be expected to advocate on behalf of clients who are not able to advocate for themselves, including by representing clients in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and with owners or property managers.
